Lldp Windows
Enable LLDP on Windows Server 2016/2019 The Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) is a vendor-neutral link layer protocol used by network devices for advertising their identity, capabilities, and neighbors on a local area network based on IEEE 802 technology, principally wired Ethernet. LLTD is a key Windows Rally technology. In every version of Windows Vista, LLTD is on and enabled by default. LLDP is enabled by default in Windows 10 and 8.x, however, LLDP is not always enabled. Most devices like switches, routers, VOIP phones have LLDP capabilities. You may need to turn LLDP on in the device settings and most importantly in the switch. When does having LLDP information matter?
LLDP allows you to know exactly on which port is a server(and reciprocally).
LLDP is an industry standard protocol designed to supplantproprietary Link-Layer protocols such as EDP or CDP. The goal of LLDPis to provide an inter-vendor compatible mechanism to deliverLink-Layer notifications to adjacent network devices.
